Women's Basketball Rolls Past Lees McRae 100-51
Salisbury, NC -- It was an historic afternoon for the Catawba women's basketball team (4-0) as they defeated Lees McRae (3-5) 100-51. This is the first time the Indians have scored 100 points since November 25, 2009 when they defeated Livingstone 101-74.
This also marks the first time the team has scored 100 points at home since they defeated Mars Hill 103-84 on February 14, 2004. Today's win was the largest margin of victory since defeating Mount Olive 100-46 in 2000. Catawba is now 4-0, which is the first 4-0 start since the 2004-2005 season when they started 5-0.
Taisha DeShazo led the Indians with 22 points. DeShazo also added 4 three pointers on the afternoon. All but two players on the Indians roster scored at least 2 points.
Catawba shot 45% from the floor while going 13-26 (50%) from behind the arc. The Indians out-rebounded Lees McRae 56-31.
Conference play starts this Tuesday as Catawba will host Newberry at 5:30 pm.
