Three Earn United Soccer Coaches Women's Soccer All-Region Honors


KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Catawba placed three players on the 2019 United Soccer Coaches (USC) Women’s Soccer All-Southeast Region teams which were announced on Monday. Sophomore defender Katie Beck and junior midfield Jovana Sanchez were second team picks, while senior forward Shelby Vasich was a third team selection.

Beck, who was the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of they Year, helped produce nine shouts over 18 matches this season with a 0.96 goals against average. She would also chip in with four goals on the year.

Sanchez finished second on the team with 13 points, scoring three goals and collecting a team best seven assists. Vasich missed the final five matches of the season with an injury, but tallied four goals with a pair of game winners on the season.

In addition to the USC honors, Beck was named first team All-State by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) and Sanchez earned a second team nod.
