Catawba Downed by #3 LMU 110-85
Harrogate, TN -- It was a tough afternoon for the Catawba men's basketball team (11-3, 6-2 SAC) as they were defeated by Lincoln Memorial (15-1, 8-0 SAC) 110-85. LMU continues its great season as they are ranked #3 in the country and sit at the top of the SAC standings.
The Indians' offense struggled most of the game as they shot 40% from the field. On top of that, the Railsplitters shot 60% from the floor on the afternoon. Catawba shot just 5-20 from the three point line.
LMU held a 49-41 halftime lead on the Indians thanks in part to Julius Brown. Brown scored 9 points in half number one and finished the game with 27. Terrence Whitfield came off the bench to score 9 first half points for Catawba.
Catawba shot 3-11 from behind the arc in the first period while LMU shot 5-10. LMU also out-scored the Indians in the paint 20-14 in the half.
The second half saw LMU continue to light it up on the offensive end, shooting 64% from the floor. The Railsplitters also hit 8 three pointers in the half. Anthony Brown topped his first half total of 9 points with an 18 point second period.
Whitfield would be the high scorer for Catawba finishing with 17. Devin Cooper and Marcell Haskett scored 13 points each while Daquan Lilly put up 9 points and 8 rebounds.
The Indians will travel to Queens for their next game on January 15th. Gametime is set for 7:30 pm.
