Beach Volleyball Holds Initial Intrasqaud Tournament
Catawba beach volleyball got a feel for its new home facility with an instrasquad tournament on Sunday. Catawba will play its first beach match at Coastal Carolina on Feb. 21. The team will host a tournament on the weekend of March 13-14 with Catawba Valley, Spartanburg Methodist and Erskine.
“I am super excited for our new and upcoming beach program,” said Jaida Henderson. “I think that this intrasquad tournament definitely was a learning experience not just for myself but for the team as a whole. I am now aware of what I need to work on personally as well as what it’ll take to mesh with a partner. This will be something super fun to watch here on campus so I hope that we have crowds to come out and support this season!”
“The inter-squad tournament really gave us an idea of where everyone is at with playing beach and the competitiveness it brings out of us,” added Morgan Pearson. “I’m very excited for this season and what we can accomplish.”
“After playing intrasquad with the whole team, I was able to go through several learning experiences in a game-like situation,” stated Payton Medich. “This experience will help me directly focus on what I need to work on in order to help myself and my team do better in our next tournament/game.”
“After this intrasquad tournament, I am looking forward to how much we will grow and learn this spring,” said Jade Brooks. “I believe these tournaments will not only advance us in volleyball overall, but will bring us closer as a team.”
“Having an intrasquad tournament is great because it allows us to get used to the tournament atmosphere while also giving us the time to learn how to play with each other,” said Ashley Johnson.
