Women's Lacrosse Drops Opener to Mount Olive
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Mount Olive, ranked 24th in NCAA II, posted a 20-2 win over host Catawba in women’s lacrosse action on Friday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. It was the opener for both teams.
Tiffany Lee and Ali Davis each scored four goals for the Trojans, who built an 11-2 edge at the half. Meaghan Michaud and Jackie Kaderabek both had two goals and an assist. Ciara Moorman record six saves.
Catawba got goals from Katie Barth and Brooklyn Tilley in the loss. Barth tied the game at 1-1 with her tally at the 22:35 mark. Mount Olive reeled off the next six goals before Tilley ended the run with just over five minutes to go in the first half.
Tilley added three draw control wins and Gianna Pezzulo had an assist. Aryn Dorr recorded 17 saves in goal with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. The Trojans held a 44-8 edge in shots and won 16 of the 23 draw controls.
Catawba returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Erskine at 2 p.m.
