Men's Lacrosse Knocked Off By Mount Olive


MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Catawba dropped a 10-5 decision to eighth-ranked Mount Olive in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at the McDonald Complex. The Trojans improve to 2-0, while the Catawba Indians fall to 0-2.

Mount Olive used a four-goal run the bridged the second and third quarters to pull away. Trevor Bellotte had brought Catawba within 4-3 at the 7:06 mark of the second quarter before the run. The Indians did not score again until a tally by Justin Jablonski with 3:48 left in the third quarter.

Christian Norrie had two goals and an assist for Catawba. Bellotte and Jablonski added an assist to go with their goals. Kevin Geiger recorded 13 saves in goal.

Connor Watson had three goals and two assists to pace Mount Olive. Tim Collins and Nick Petersen each had a pair of goals. Andrew Avarello notched eight saves.

Catawba next plays Young Harris in its home opener on Feb. 26 at 4 p.m.
