Men's Basketball Falls to #2 LMU on Senior Day
Salisbury, NC -- It was a tough afternoon for Catawba men's basketball (18-8, 13-7 SAC) as they fell to #2 Lincoln Memorial (27-1, 20-0 SAC) 105-88 on senior day. Marcell Haskett led the Indians in scoring with 22 points on 7-17 shooting from the floor.
The first half was very competitive as LMU held the lead for most of it. Catawba played tough however and stayed within striking distance before the break. Senior Malik Constantine had 12 points in the first half, although his minutes were limited due to foul trouble.
Haskett scored 8 of his points in the half as LMU played strong defense on the sharpshooter all afternoon. Cameron Henry scored 16 for the Rail Splitters in the first half while Devin Whitfield scored 15.
After halftime LMU began to pull away as the Indians had no answer on either end of the court. Whitfield would lead Lincoln Memorial in scoring with 27 on the day while teammate Courvoisier McCauley had 26. LMU shot 54% from the field on the contest including knocking down 12 shots from long range.
Devin Cooper had a solid day scoring 14 points while Terrence Whitfield played a great game scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double.
This Wednesday the team travels to Anderson looking to get back in the win column. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
