White Named Indoor Track & Field All-American

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Catawba sophomore track and field standout MeKayla White has been named a 2020 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field All-American by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The awards were announced on Tuesday.

Due to the cancellation of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Executive Committee adopted the following criteria:
Based on the posted start list for the national championships announced by the NCAA, the following will be recognized as All-America for the 2020 indoor track & field season:
Individual events: ALL student-athletes listed on the start list for the anticipated event.
Relay events: The four student-athletes per anticipated relay who produced the performance that was declared and accepted into their event.
There will not be a distinction of “first-team” or “second-team” to these recognitions.

White earned her honor in the long jump. She was runner-up at the South Atlantic Conference Championships, but qualified with a school-record mark of 5.95 meters. Last year, White was an USTFCCCA All-Region pick in the long jump and triple jump for the indoor season and the long jump in the outdoor season.
