Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba came away with a seventh place finish at the Richard Rendleman Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament that concluded on Tuesday at the 6,759-yard, par-71 Country Club of Salisbury. Catawba had three freshmen in the lineup playing for the first time with much of the roster sitting out due to CoVID protocols.

Riley Smith led Catawba with a 10th-place finish at one-over-par. He had rounds of 71 and 72 to shoot a 143. Justin Nagy (33rd), Tom Baxter (35th) and Luke Nelson (40th) rounded out the lineup. The Catawba Indians posted a 610 team total with rounds of 302 and 308.

Lincoln Memorial’s B Team took top honors, edging the LMU A Team by six shots. The B’s carded a 566 with the A’s posting a 572 score. Harry Watkins, of the LMU A squad, was the individual medalist as he shot a five-under 137 to top a pair of golfers by two shots.

Catawba is in action next Monday and Tuesday in the Queens Invitational at the Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, N.C.
