Peter Bourque has been the head coach of the Catawba men's lacrosse program since its inception in 1993. Along with his coaching duties, Bourque also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director at Catawba.  He guided the Catawba Indians to three straight Deep South Tournament Championships (2011, 2012, 2013) and a school-record 14 wins in 2012.   

In 2007, Catawba earned a share of the Deep South Conference title.  In both 2004 and 2005, the Indians advanced to the DSC Tournament final. He has been named the Deep South Conference Coach of the Year in both 2000 and 2003. In 1999, Bourque was selected to coach in the prestigious USILA North-South All-Star game in Saratoga Springs, NY.

He graduated from Guilford College in 1988, where he earned a BS in Sports Management. While at Guilford, Bourque was a four-year athlete, and received the Nereus C. English Athletic Leadership Award, the highest honor given to a Guilford student-athlete. In 1992, Bourque went on to receive his M.Ed. in School Administration from Lynchburg College, in Virginia, where he was a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Education Honor Society.

Bourque was born in Springfield, MA, but was reared in Westfield, NJ. He graduated from Westfield High School and The Gunnery Prep School in Washington, CT.

Bourque carries with him much experience, having coached at Greensboro College, Lynchburg College, M.I.T Cambridge, MA, and Guilford. In the summer, Bourque serves as a director for the successful Dixie Top 150 lacrosse camps.

During his tenure at Catawba, Bourque is proud to have coached 52 All-Conference performers. He has also coached nine All-Americans and three Academic All-Americans, the USILA’s top award.

Bourque has served on several NCAA Division II lacrosse committees and currently holds the post as Division II Regional Director for All-American Selection Committee.

Bourque and his wife, Ann, reside in Salisbury. They have three children; Kathlenn Isabel, Brendan Peter and Molly Ann.

 Jay Goldsmith has joined Catawba as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach for the 2018 season. He comes to Catawba from Methodist University where he served as an assistant for one season.

A 2015 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University with a degree in health and physical education, Goldsmith was a two-year starter for the Bears after transferring from Lynchburg College. While at L-R, Goldsmith appeared in 30 games and racked up 88 points on 68 goals and 20 assists. He added 52 ground balls, including 37 in his senior season.

Goldsmith was a second team all-conference selection in 2014, and an honorable mention all-conference pick in 2015. He graduated holding the school's single-game goal record with seven. He was drafted by the Charlotte Hounds of the MLL.

Prior to playing at Lenoir-Rhyne, Goldsmith played two seasons for NCAA Division III power Lynchburg College. As a Hornet, Goldsmith saw action in 29 games and scored 15 goals with 10 assists and 20 ground balls.

Goldsmith started his coaching career at Ragsdale High School where he served as head coach after graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne. His club coaching experience includes stints with the Old North Lacrosse Club in Greensboro, N.C., where he was the head coach of the U11 and U19 travel teams and an assistant coach with the U15 team.
