Ginger Hamric has been the head coach of the Catawba College volleyball program since 1990. Hamric has led the Lady Indians to four NCAA II tournament berths and Catawba became the first South Atlantic Conference volleyball team to reach a regional final in 2008. Her teams have compiled a 520-339 record.
Hamric is a four-time South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year and in 2001 led Catawba to NCAA II regionals, becoming th first SAC team to qualify for NCAA post-season play after claiming the SAC Tournament title. In 2000, Catawba took the SAC Championship and posted a 34-7 record. Catawba also captured the 1990 and 1991 SAC Tournament crowns under Hamric. She is also an instructor in Catawba’s Goodman School of Physical Education.
In 2008, Hamric was inducted into the Catawba Sports Hall of Fame. During her tenure, Catawba has advanced to NCAA II Regional play four times and have claimed three SAC Championships and three SAC Tournament titles.
Prior to her arrival at Catawba, Hamric, was volleyball coach and a biology teacher at Mt. Airy High School. That position was her first after graduating from Appalachian State University in 1985. She was also an assistant coach in basketball and co-coach in softball.
Her volleyball teams at Mt. Airy won two state (2-A) championships (1986, 1987) and three Northwestern Conference titles (1986-88). Two other seasons (1988 and 1989), the Lady Bears were state runner-ups. Overall, Hamric’s five-year record at Mt. Airy was 95-14. She was voted league coach of the year three times and Mt. Airy High School Teacher of the Year in 1987 and 1989.
An outstanding former athlete herself, Hamric was a three-year starter in volleyball at Forbush High School, before graduating in 1981. At ASU, she was captain of the team as a hitter in 1983 and 1984. She helped lead the Lady Apps to the Southern Conference championship during her senior season.
Hamric earned a bachelor’s of science education degree from ASU. She earned a master’s degree in science education from Wake Forest. She is a member of Gamma Beta Phi academic honor society and Kappa Delta Pi educational honor society.
She resides in Salisbury and in Yadkin County with her husband, Will.

Nicole Barringer joined the Catawba College Volleyball Program as an assistant in the spring of 2017. She was previously an assistant at Averett since 2015.
Barringer enjoyed an outstanding four-year playing career at Averett, graduating in 2015 with a degree in criminal justice. She is pursuing a master’s of business administration.
As a setter, Barringer finished her playing career with 4,654 assists with an average of 9.99 assists and 2.09 digs per set in 466 sets over 141 career matches. She also totaled 165 service aces and 126 blocks. As a senior, Barringer earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-America honors after being voted to the AVCA All-South Region Team. In addition, she was selected to the USA South All-Conference First Team and the USA South All-Tournament Team after finishing fifth in the nation in total assists. Barringer earned USA South All-Conference honors all four years at Averett, including First Team recognition twice. She also helped Averett win the 2013 USA South North Division championship.
Barringer also succeeded off the court as a three-time USA South Academic All-Conference selection. As a junior, Barringer earned Averett's prestigious Frank Campbell Sportsmanship Award and was named Averett's Barbara Kushubar Female Student-Athlete of the Year as a senior. She also received the two most prestigious honors from the USA South Conference following her senior year. Barringer was named the female recipient of the USA South's prestigious Don Scalf Award as the conference's student-athlete of the year and she was selected as the USA South's Woman of the Year.
Barringer has served as a summer volleyball camp instructor and has coached club volleyball with Carolina Juniors Volleyball (Charlotte) and Sports Academy (Statesville).
