Rob Perron has became the 12th men’s basketball coach in school history prior to the 2014-15 season. He came to Catawba after serving as associate head coach at Newberry.
Perron served as recruiting coordinator at Newberry and helped implement an offensive system that ranked second in the nation in scoring in his final season wit the Wolves. Newberry just missed getting an invitation to the NCAA II Regional.
Prior to joining Dave Davis at Newberry, Perron was the Director of Basketball Operations for the Charlotte 49ers from 2006 to 2012. While there, he worked with all aspects of the program, including managing the budget, recruiting, scheduling and community engagement.
Perron also worked with Davis at Pfeiffer before going to Charlotte. He was head coach at St. Andrews from 2002 to 2005 and took a 2-25 team prior to his arrival to the CVAC Tournament semifinals in his first season. He started his coaching career at St. Andrews as an assistant in 1997.
A 1996 graduate of St. Andrews, Perron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. While at St. Andrews, he was team MVP and was captain of the basketball, cross country and track teams. He scored over 1,100 points with over 700 rebounds in a four-year playing career which also included two seasons at Normandale (Minn.) Community College.
Although he becomes Catawba’s 12th head coach, Perron is just the third man to guide the Catawba Indians since 1960. He replaced Jim Baker, who was head coach for 20 seasons. Sam Moir had guided Catawba for the previous 34 years.
Perron and his wife, Stephanie, have two children, Carter (11) and Stella (8). Stephanie is a native of Charlotte and is a RN at REACH.

Derrick Wall joined the Catawba College Men’s Basketball Coaching staff in the spring of 2018. He comes to Catawba following a successful tenure on the Adidas Gauntlet Summer Circuit as well as being the Associate Head Coach at Woodside High School in Newport News, Va.
With the Adidas Gauntlet Summer Circuit, Wall led Team Loaded NC to an 88% winning percentage in his three years and a #2 finish in the 2017 Gauntlet Finale 17 Division. The team ranked as a top 15 squad in the country overall. At Woodside from 2015-17, Wall helped lead the team to the District and Regional Championship as well as a state semi-final appearance.
Wall began his coaching career at Anson High School in Wadesboro N.C., serving as an assistant coach for two years. While at Anson, he helped them reach the state playoffs both seasons, including a conference championship in his final year.
A 2015 graduate from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Wall earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a concentration in sports management. He has coached and mentored 40+ players that have gone on to the Division 1 level and several into NBA and professional ranks.

Steven Asher joins the Catawba Men's Basketball Staff after spending last year as an assistant coach with the men's basketball program at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa., under the tutelage of Head Coach, Guy Rancourt. In his first year with the Warriors, Asher helped the team to an NCAA Tournament appearance and its first MAC Commonwealth title since joining the league in 2008. The Warriors posted a 19-10 record and won three road games in the MAC Commonwealth Championships to earn the title. While at Lycoming, Asher received his masters of real estate development from the University of Maryland.
Before Lycoming, Asher spent three years at the University of Maryland, where he served as a graduate assistant for two years and as a basketball performance intern for one season. As graduate assistant with the Maryland men’s basketball staff, Asher was responsible for assisting with the filming and editing of game and practice film, scouting reports, tracking statistics, overseeing the recruiting database and coordinating team travel. He also helped monitor academic progress of student-athletes as well as overseeing the nine-man student manager staff. Asher also helped coordinate on-campus recruiting visits of high school prospects.
In one year as a basketball performance intern, Asher assisted and helped facilitate all aspects of the basketball performance program for both the men's and women's Maryland basketball teams. While interning, Asher also assisted with player development workouts and video editing for former Maryland assistant women's basketball coach and current assistant coach of the Washington Wizards, David Adkins, working with NBA, WNBA, foreign professional players and collegiate players.
Before coming to Maryland, Asher graduated from James Madison in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. While attending JMU, Asher played and served as vice president of the JMU club basketball team. Asher graduated from River Hill High School in 2008 where he was a member of the 2007 Maryland 3A State Championship Basketball team.

Jermon Marsh joins the Catawba Men’s Basketball staff for the 2018-19 season and comes from Davidson County Community College, where he spent the last three years coaching basketball. In his three years coaching there, DCCC posted an overall record of 87-13 and went to Elite 8 National Tournament twice. In 2016, the team made it the school’s first Final Four appearance ever.
Before his stint at Davidson County Community College, Marsh coached one year at Dallas Christian College in Texas, who finished fifth in the nation at the National Tournament in Missouri. At both colleges he has also served as the Strength & Conditioning Coach. He holds four different certifications in Fitness as well.
Marsh graduated from Bemidji State University in Minnesota with a degree in sports management degree. While at Bemidji, he was a scholarship athlete for three years. He transferred to Warren Wilson College for his senior season and earned All-America honors.
After college, Marsh had a brief stint as a professional basketball player before going into his exercise fitness and basketball coaching career. He recently earned a masters of education degree in coaching from Greenville University. He played his high school basketball at Copperas Cove High School in Texas, where he was a 6A All-District player during his junior and senior year.
