Thomasville Area Information

Thomasville became a city in 1852 shortly after a $3 million tax was passed to build the North Carolina Railroad through the state. To this day, uptown Thomasville is one of the best places for rail fans as nearly 40 trains a day pass through town and the visitors' center is housed in one of NC's oldest passenger railroad depots built circa 1870.

Many know that Thomasville claims the "World's Largest Chair" and President Lyndon B. Johnson stood atop the 30' high chair in 1960 during a whistle stop tour while campaigning for he and JFK; but, not as many know that Thomasville hosts the Southeastern United States' largest Memorial Day Parade and Celebration every Memorial Day (May 25, 2015) and has many more festivals and attractions. When dining between games, be sure to visit uptown Thomasville to take in the history, the sites and some shopping!
