Chris Holke joined the Catawba staff in the Fall of 2016 as an Assistant Coach with the Catawba College baseball program. Prior to Catawba, Holke coached two seasons at Rockford University. At Rockford, he worked primarily with catchers and hitters in addition to helping with recruiting efforts.
A native of Barrington, Ill., he began his collegiate playing career at Harper College, where he was a two-time NJCAA N4C All-Conference performer. He hit .373 as a sophomore with 12 doubles and 30 RBIs and was also selected as a member of the NJCAA Region IV All-Regional Team. In his freshman season, Holke pitched as well posting a 4-3 record with a 4.06 ERA in 31 innings and hit for a .355 average. Holke led the Hawks to the NJCAA Division III, Region 4 Championship game in 2010.
In 2012, he spent one season at North Dakota State University, where he was a member of the Bison baseball program; a program that won 40 games at the Division I level, including a victory over fifth ranked University of Arizona who went on to win the 2012 College World Series.
Following a season at NDSU, Holke was primarily a catcher during a two-year playing career at Rockford University. He finished his collegiate playing career at Rockford with a career fielding percentage of .991, a RCS % of .321 and a .321 batting average with a .394 on-base percentage during his senior year. Holke holds the single season record for highest fielding percentage at Rockford.
From 2011-15, Holke was an assistant coach with the Barrington Post 158 American Legion Team. During his time as an assistant coach, Barrington Post had an overall record of 150-67. The team has won the 10th district championship in 2011, 2013 and 2014 along with a secod division title and Illinois American Legion State Championship in 2014. In 2016, Holke served as head coach of the Northern Knights in the Chicago Metropolitan Baseball League. This past summer, Holke coached with the Eau Claire Express in the Northwoods League. He served a the third base coach and assisted the team to a second half Northwoods League North Division Title.
Holke graduated from Rockford University in 2014 with Cum Laude honors and bachelor’s degrees in history and political science. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Chi Alpha Sigma. He completed his Master of Arts in Teaching from Rockford in 2015. He resides in Salisbury.
