Baird And Borland Named to NCCSIA All-State Women's Soccer Team

RALEIGH, NC -- Eleven student-athletes representing seven institutions were selected to the seventh annual North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State women’s soccer team.  Pfeiffer senior goal keeper Suzie Hinman was the only unanimous pick, while Alex Calvert, of Meredith, was the only returning member from last season.   The team is highlighted by two members each from four institutions, Pfeiffer, Meredith, Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba.

Baird and Borland Named to All-Southeast Region Women's Soccer Team

SAINT AUGUSTINE’S, FL -- Catawba placed two players on the 2009 Daktronics Women’s Soccer All-Southeast Region Team, announced on Tuesday.  Junior defender Alexa Baird (Plainfield, NC/Mt. St. Mary Academy) and freshman midfielder Maria Borland (Hagerstown, MD/N. Hagerstown HS) were first team selections.

Women's Soccer Finishes Sixth In Region

The Catawba women’s soccer team finished the season ranked sixth in the Southeast Region, but just missed out on grabbing an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.  Six teams earn spots in the regional, but the Lady Indians were knocked out by Belmont Abbey, which received the automatic qualifier from Conference Carolinas.  Newberry got the final at-large spot after earned a 1-0 win over Catawba during the season.

Five Earn All-SAC Honors in Women's Soccer

ROCK HILL, SC – Catawba placed five players, including three freshmen, on the 2009 All-South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer teams.  Earning first team honors were midfielder Maria Borland (Hagerstown, MD/N. Hagerstown HS) and defender Alexa Baird (Plainfield, NJ/Mt. St. Mary Academy).  Second team honors went to forward Stephanie Borland (Hagerstown, MD/N. Hagerstown HS), midfielder Tasha Wilhelm (Mt. Savage, MD/Beall HS) and midfielder Katie Gair (Milton, Ontario, CANADA/St. Mary Catholic).
