Baker Earns 300th Win as Men's Basketball Takes Down Tusculum

SALISBURY, NC -- Senior Antonio Houston (Charlotte, NC/E. Mecklenburg HS) came up two points shy of 2,000 career points, but his 25 was enough to lift host Catawba to a 78-65 win over Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym.  The win gave Catawba Coach Jim Baker his 300th career win, all at Catawba, and improved the Indians to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the SAC.  The Pioneers fell to 12-10 and 6-5.

Rutherford Goes For 30 Again, Wins it on Tip-In in Closing Seconds

MONROE, NC -- Senior Donald Rutherford’s (Morganton, NC/Freedom HS) tip-in with six seconds left provided visiting Catawba with a 75-73 win over Wingate in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Wednesday night at Cuddy Arena.  Rutherford equaled career-highs in both scoring (30 pts) and rebounding (13 pts) in posting a double-double for the Catawba Indians, who improve to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in the SAC.  The Bulldogs fall to 11-10 and 4-6.

Rutherford Nets Career-High 30 Points as Men's Basketball Cruises Past Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, TN -- Catawba shots a sizzling 62.5% and got a career-high 30 points from senior Donald Rutherford (Morganton, NC/Freedom HS) in posting an 85-75 win over host Carson-Newman in  South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Wednesday night at Holt Fieldhouse.  The Catawba Indians improve to 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the SAC, while the Eagles fall to 8-10 and 3-5.

Men's Basketball Succumbs to Newberry in Double Overtime

SALISBURY, NC -- Newberry overcame a five-point deficit in the first overtime and claimed a 94-88 double-overtime win over host Catawba in South Atlantic Conference men’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym.  The win improves Newberry to 7-11 overall and 2-5 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 11-7 and 4-3.
