Hicks Earns All-Region and All-State Honors in Women's Basketball

Catawba sophomore Dana Hicks (York, SC/Gaston Day) earned second team All-Southeast Region honors from Daktronics and All-State honors from the NCCSIA in women’s basketball.  Hicks led Catawba in both scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (11.2 rpg) this season.

Hicks Named First Team All-SAC in Women's Basketball

ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba sophomore Dana Hicks (York, SC/Gaston Day) has been to the 2009-10 All-South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball first team.  It was announced by the league office on Friday.  Hicks was named to the all-freshman team last season.

Women's Basketball Can't Dig Out of Early Hole, Falls in SAC Tourney Opener

GREENEVILLE, TN -- Catawba dug a deep hole early in the second half and fell 96-87 to host Tusculum in the opening round of the 2010 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday night at Pioneer Arena.  The Pioneers, seeded fourth, improve to 18-9 and advance to Saturday’s semifinals.  The fifth-seeded Catawba Indians end their season at 15-13.

Women's Basketball Falls to Late Brevard Rally

BREVARD, NC -- Brevard rallied from a double-digit deficit in the final 10 minutes to snatch a 71-70 win over visiting Catawba in South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Gym.  Samantha Winn gave the Tornados the lead with seven seconds left and Nisha Long’s shot with two seconds left was off the mark.  With the win, Brevard qualifies for the SAC Tournament as the #8-seed, improving to 9-18 overall and 3-13 in the SAC.  The Catawba Indians fall to 15-12 and 8-8, garnering the #5-seed in the league tournament and will travel to Tusculum for a first round game on Wednesday.
