Cross Country Teams Voted Fifth and Sixth in SAC Preseason Polls

ROCK HILL, SC -- Led by the return of its entire lineup from a year ago, the Catawba men were picked fifth in the 2010 South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches’ poll.  The women, who return five runners, were voted sixth.

Cross Country Announces Six Committments for 2010

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College cross country coach, Bill Haggerty, has announced six commitments for the upcoming 2010 cross country season.  Joining Catawba for next season on the women’s team is Daniele Garcia (West Stokes HS), Jordan Greene (Mooresville HS), Anne Mabry (South Rowan HS), Olivia Myers (West Davidson HS) and Peyton Thompson (North Davidson HS).  Jarred Beverley (North Surry HS) will join the men’s team.

Men's Cross Country 16th, Women 17th at Regional Meet

WINGATE, NC -- Catawba‘s men ran to a 16th-place finish, while the women were 17th among 23 teams competeing in the NCAA II Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships held at the Wingate Cross Country Facility on Saturday morning.  Freshman Chrisitan Crifasi (Ramseur, NC/E. Randolph HS) had the top finish for the Catawba men as he ran the 10k course in a time of 33:44 to place 20th.  Senior Maleah Cole (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) was 17th in the women’s 6k, clocking in with a time of 34:45.

Cole and Crifasi Run to Honors at SAC Cross Country Championships

NEWTON, NC -- The Catawba men finished fourth and the women fifth at the 2009 South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships held on Saturday morning at Southside Park.  Senior Maleah Cole (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) was fourth in the women’s 5k and earned first team All-SAC honors.  Chrisitan Crifasi (Ramseur, NC/E. Randolph HS) led the men, finishing sixth, as he earned first team All-SAC honors and was Freshman Runner of the Year.
