Football Gets 11 Commitments on Signing Day

Catawba coach Chip Hester has announced the signing of 11 student-athletes for the 2010 football season. Following is a list of those who signed on signing day. The list will be added to as more student-athletes commit to Catawba.

Crosby Earns All-Region Football Honors

NEWBERRY, SC -- Catawba senior offensive lineman Terence Crosby (Kernersville, NC/Glenn HS) was named to the 299 Daktronics All-Super Region 2 Football Team. The right tackle was a second team pick.

Crosby and Fair Lead Five Selected to All-SAC Football Teams

ROCK HILL, SC – Catawba placed five players on the 2009 All-South Atlantic Conference Football Teams as announced by the league office on Monday. The Indians had two first team selections, senior offensive tackle Terence Crosby (Winston-Salem, NC/Glenn HS) and senior defensive tackle Melquan Fair (Raleigh, NC/E. Wake HS). Earning second team honors was junior wide receiver Brandon Bunn (Virginia Beach, VA/Hargrave/VMI), junior defensive tackle Brandon Sutton (Snow Hill, NC/Greene Central HS) and freshman linebacker Cory Johnson (Fayetteville, NC/Britt HS).

Football Rally Falls Short in Season-Ending Loss

SALISBURY, NC -- Lenoir-Rhyne ran for 394 yards and held off Catawba to take a 16-13 win in South Atlantic Conference football action on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. Both teams put a cap to their seasons with the Bears improving to 5-6 overall and 2-5 in the SAC and the Catawba Indians ending up 4-6 and 1-6.
