SALISBURY, NC -- Junior Craig Brooks (Monroe, NC/Parkwood HS) won his 10th-straight decision, striking out nine in seven shutout innings, to left Catawba to a 6-0 win over visiting Carson-Newman in South Atlantic Conference baseball action on Friday afternoon at Newman Park.  The Catawba Indians improve to 27-16 overall and 20-7 in the SAC, while staying in a tie for the league lead.  The Eagles fall to 21-25 and 11-17.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba dropped both games of a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader to Brevard on Friday afternoon at Whitley Field.  The Tornados claimed wins of 1-0 and 9-2 to improve to 22-23 overall and 11-9 in the SAC.  The Catawba Indians fall to 24-19 and 9-13, but will qualify for the SAC Tournament which starts on Thursday on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Queens, ranked 11th in NCAA II, topped Catawba 18-7 in the semifinals of the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex.  The Royals improve to 12-4 and advance to Saturday's championship.  The Catawba Indians end their season at 7-9.

ROCK HILL, SC -- Seniors John Scheich (Waxhaw, NC/Weddington HS) and Gage Mason (Apex, NC/Apex HS) headline Catawba's All-South Atlantic Conference award winners in men's lacrosse as announced by the league office on Wednesday.  Scheich, at attack, and Mason, as a defender, earned first team honors, while senior Hartland Jones (Raleigh, NC/Ravenscroft HS) was named second team at long-stick middie.  Senior defender Shea Fadel (Charlotte, NC/S. Mecklenburg HS) and junior face-off specialist Daniel Rew (Forest Hill, MD/Bel Air HS) claimed honorable mention honors.

ROCK HILL, SC -- Eight Catawba players earned post-season honors from the inaugural South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse season.  Goalie Bethany Davis (Salisbury, MD/Parkside HS) was a first team All-SAC pick, while attack Alyssa Corace (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac HS), midfielder Ebony Mills (Harrison, ME/Oxford Hills HS/Mount Ida) and defenders Kelsey Perusse (Shelton, CT/Shelton HS) and Kourtney Jones (Mooresville, NC/Lake Norman HS) were second team selections.  Three others earned honorable mention honors as the award winners were announced on Wednesday by the SAC office.
