ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- Catawba guard Serena Brown has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Players of the Week for games played Dec. 4-11. It was announced by the league office on Monday.
 
Brown, a senior from Ft. Washington, Md., helped the Indians win their only game on the week. She recorded 17 points as she shot 58.3 percent from the field, brought down 13 rebounds and added four assists in the 70-58 victory over Tusculum on Dec. 9. The award is her first Player of the Week plaudit this season.

The Pioneers improve to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-5 and 0-3.

WACO, TEXAS -- Gannon running back Marc Jones and Catawba linebacker Kyle Kitchens headline the 2017 AFCA Division II Coaches’ All-America Teams announced today by the American Football Coaches Association. Kitchens becomes just the fourth player in Division II history, and second defensive player, to be named to three straight AFCA All-America teams. He was a first team pick in 2015 and 2017 and a second team honoree last year.

Catawba sophomore Claire Featherstone has earned Bluegrass Mountain Conference Female Swimmer of the Week honors for the week ending De. 3. Featherstone broke three school marks over the weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in helped the Catawba Indians to a second-place finish.

CHESTESRFIELD, Va. -- The Catawba women finished second and the men fourth at the R-M C Yellow Jacket Invitational Swim Meet which concluded on Saturday at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center. The women accumulated 1,186 points, while Catholic won the meet with 1,307 points. Catawba’s men scored 1,081 points with Howard taking the win with 1,333.5 points.

WINSTON-SALEM. N.C. -- Catawba ventured into new territory on Saturday, competing in its first-ever Indoor Track & Field Meet at the JDL College Kickoff Classic held at the JDL Fast Track. Catawba had previously fielded a men’s outdoor track team, but not since the late 1980s.
