ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba claimed three of the top South Atlantic Conference post-season baseball awards which were announced by the conference office on Wednesday.  Junior Craig Brooks (Monroe, NC/Parkwood HS) was named Pitcher of the Year,  pitcher Shaefer Shepard (Boca Raton, FL/Boca Raton HS/Francis Marion) claimed Freshman of the Year honors and Jim Gantt earned Coach of the Year honors.

ROCK HILL, SC -- Three Catawba players earned post-season softball honors from the South Atlantic Conference.  Sophomore pitcher Carley Tysinger (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) and freshman outfielder Kristen Stinnard (Concord, NC/Cox Mill HS) were named second team All-SAC, while freshman utility player Katherine Shumaker (Blanch, NC/Bartlett Yancy HS) garnered honorable mention honors.  The awards were announced by the league office on Wednesday.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba notched season highs with 21 hits and 17 runs in rolling to a 17-9 Senior Day win over Belmont Abbey in baseball action on Tuesday night at Newman Park.  The win improves Catawba to 28-16, while the Crusaders fall to 17-28.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba  will be the eighth seed for the upcoming Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament, which starts on Thursday in Harrogate, TN, on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University.  The Catawba Indians will face league co-champion Lenoir-Rhyne in their opening game that Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

SALISBURY, NC --  With Catawba and Wingate unable to take the field on Saturday due to rain and wet fields, the two will share the 2014 South Atlantic Conference Baseball Championship.  Both teams finished the regular season with 20-7 marks in the conference, but the Catawba Indians will claim the top seed for the Food Lion SAC Tournament by virtue of its 2-1 series win over the Bulldogs during the season.

SALISBURY, NC -- Junior Craig Brooks (Monroe, NC/Parkwood HS) won his 10th-straight decision, striking out nine in seven shutout innings, to left Catawba to a 6-0 win over visiting Carson-Newman in South Atlantic Conference baseball action on Friday afternoon at Newman Park.  The Catawba Indians improve to 27-16 overall and 20-7 in the SAC, while staying in a tie for the league lead.  The Eagles fall to 21-25 and 11-17.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba dropped both games of a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader to Brevard on Friday afternoon at Whitley Field.  The Tornados claimed wins of 1-0 and 9-2 to improve to 22-23 overall and 11-9 in the SAC.  The Catawba Indians fall to 24-19 and 9-13, but will qualify for the SAC Tournament which starts on Thursday on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University.
