Catawba has been picked 15th in the Sporting News College Football Magazine preseason poll.  Catawba returns 15 starters from a year ago, including nine on defense, from a unit that went 9-3 and claimed the South Atlantic Conference Championship.

Athletics News: Locker Rooms Are Being Renovated at Catawba's Abernethy P.E. Center Athletics News http://gocatawbaindians.com/article.asp?articleID=7570

Work continues in Catawba's Abernethy Physical Education Center. Since renovations in the Goodman Gymnasium were completed during summer 2015, work has begun on the lower level of the facility to renovate the locker rooms for men's and women's basketball and volleyball.

The Catawba softball team placed three players on the 2016 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Softball Teams.  Carley Tysinger (Lexington, N.C./C. Davidson) and Kristen Stinnard (Concord, N.C./Cox Mill) were first team honorees, while Gina Gerone (Brooklyn, N.Y./Madison) was a second team pick.  The all-state teams are comprised of 18 student-athletes representing nine of the state’s NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III institutions.

Catawba placed four players on the 2016 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Baseball Teams.  Will Albertson (Sophia, N.C./Randleman/Campbell), Dylan Richardson (Randleman, N.C./Randleman/Appalachian St.), Brian Blanton (Albemarle, N.C./Albemarle) and Chance Bowden (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) were among the twenty-four players representing 11 different North Carolina Universities and Colleges that were named to the teams.

If you are a current or deposit paid student interested in being part of the Catawba College Cheerleading program, you must attend cheer tryout camp August 8-12.
 
You must be present for the entire camp, so keep that in mind when registering for Freshman Retreat (if applicable).
 
At camp you will learn all the cheers, chants and dances. You will also be stunting during camp. Tumbling is not required, but is highly recommended.
 
Housing (residential students only) and meals are provided during camp.
 
Camp is for deposit paid / returning Catawba students only. You must RSVP for camp no later than July 31 and will receive more information about camp once you've registered.

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba junior guard Bri Johnson has been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) 2015-16 College Division All-State Women’s Basketball Team.  She was voted to the second team.  The 10-member 2015-16 NCCSIA College Division Women’s Basketball All-State Teams are represented by 10 different North Carolina Colleges and Universities and was announced this week.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- The South Atlantic Conference will be featured as a part of the NCAA Division II Football Showcase in 2016 as the Catawba game at Newberry on Oct. 1 will be carried by ESPN3.  The 6 p.m. kick-off is part of the 22-game NCAA II television package for 2016.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- The South Atlantic Conference Council of Athletic Directors has named Catawba’s Carley Tysinger and Placido Torres of Tusculum as the 2015-16 South Atlantic Conference Athletes of the Year.  The league made the announcement on Wednesday.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College tennis coach, Jeff Childress, recently announced the addition of two more signees for the upcoming 2016-17 season.  Ryen Reid (Claremont, NC/Newton-Conover HS) will join Cason Heirs and Adam Rocko as newcomers on the men’s side while Marina Germais (Girona, SPAIN/St. George’s School) will join Sophie Hirsch and Olivia Wooldridge on the women’s team.
