SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne have shifted this weekend’s league series to games on Saturday and Sunday.  The opener between the teams will now begin with a doubleheader at 1 pm on Saturday.  Sunday will have a 1 pm first pitch.

NEWBERRY, S.C. -- A furious Catawba rally came up short in the end and host Newberry came away with a 98-87 win in an opening round game of the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday night at Eleazer Arena.  The third-seeded Wolves improve to 20-9 and advance to Saturday's semifinals.  The Catawba Indians end their season at 14-15.

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba advanced to the semifinals of the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament with a 79-52 win over visiting Carson-Newman on Wednesday night at Goodman Gym.  Jada Huntley (Indian Trail, N.C./Porter Ridge HS) equaled a career-high with 31 points to help the Catawba Indians improve to 18-10.  The Lady Eagles fall to 19-10.

GAFFNEY, S.C. -- The Catawba women’s lacrosse team fell to host and fifth-ranked Limestone 22-4 on Wednesday night at Saints Field.  The Saints improve to 5-0, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-2.

SALISBURY, N.C. -- The Catawba College tennis teams each suffered a loss to Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Catawba's Johnson Tennis Center.  The Catawba Lady Indians fell 9-0 to the Bulldogs, while the men recorded an 8-1 loss.  The Catawba women now stand at 4-5 on the year and 0-3 in the South Atlantic Conference.  The Indians' mens team are now 5-4 overall and 1-2 in conference. The Lady Bulldogs sit at 3-4 on the season, while the Wingate men sit at 3-3.  Both Wingate teams are 2-0 in the South Atlantic Conference.

TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Catawba got four goals each from Dalton Cook (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail HS) and Adam Hebert (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) in a 15-9 victory over host North Greenville on Wednesday afternoon at Pepsi Field.  The Catawba Indians improved to 2-3 overall, while the Crusaders fall to 0-3.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSac.com) -- Catawba’s Terri Rogers (Burlington, N.C./E. Alamance HS) has been named the 2014-15 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Year.  Anderson guard Sierra Simpson was voted the Player of the Year and Kevin Garrity, of Anderson, was tabbed the Coach of the Year, the league announced the awards on Wednesday.

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College Director of Athletics, Larry Leckonby, has announced that Head Women’s Soccer Coach Michael Swan is leaving the program to become assistant coach for the NCAA Division I Charlotte 49ers.  Swan has led the Catawba Indians for the past five season and compiled a 47-40-7 record.  A search for a new head coach will start immediately.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSac.com) -- Catawba’s KJ Arrington (Newport News, Va./Denbigh HS/Henry CC) and Jerrin Morrison (Charlotte, N.C./E. Mecklenburg HS) headlined the Catawba Indians post-season men’s basketball honorees from the South Atlantic Conference.  Arrington was named first team All-SAC, while Morrison was named the league’s Freshman of the Year.
