SALISBURY, N.C -- Catawba sophomore Alex Hopper (Madison, N.C./McMichael HS) posted a career-high 27 kills to lead the Catawba Indians to a five-set win over visiting Mars Hill in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Friday night at Goodman Gym.  The Lady Indians won the match 25-18, 20-25, 25-18, 28-25 and 15-9 to improve to 6-16 overall and 4-12 in the SAC.  The Lions fall to -7-16 and 6-10.

Football: Homecoming Brings Brevard's Triple Option Ground Attack to Shuford Stadium Football

For the fourth time this season, Catawba will try for consecutive football wins as they take the field Saturday against Brevard.  The team is also looking for two straight home wins for the first time since closing 2012 with a win over Brevard and opening 2013 with a victory over West Liberty.

HICKORY, N.C. -- Double overtime was not enough to decide the match between Catawba College and Lenoir-Rhyne that ended scoreless in men's soccer action Wednesday night at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex. With the draw Catawba moves to 4-9-2 on the year and 1-6-2 in the South Atlantic Conference.  Lenoir-Rhyne now stands at 5-6-3 and 5-3-1.

HICKORY, N.C. -- The Catawba College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to South Atlantic Conference rival, Lenoir-Rhyne, Wednesday night at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex. The Catawba Lady Indians drop to 10-5 on the season with the loss and 5-4 in the South Atlantic Conference. Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 11-3-1 and 8-1 respectively.

Catawba College has finalized its men’s basketball schedule for the 2014-15 season.  The schedule features three NCAA Division I exhibition games and a pairing with Lenoir-Rhyne, Francis Marion and UNC Pembroke on a rotating SAC/PBC Challenge Tournament.

Athletics News: Clinton Portis to Speak to Catawba Student-Athletes Athletics News

Former NFL star Clinton Portis will speak to Catawba student-athletes on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Goodman Gym.  Portis will be in Salisbury to speak with several high schools as well as part of an ongoing “Game Plan for Life” series sponsored by Joe Gibbs and the Rowan-Kannapolis ABC Board.

Volleyball: Volleyball Falls to #7 Wingate in Three Sets Volleyball

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Wingate, ranked seventh in NCAA II, won their 16th consecutive volleyball match by sweeping Catawba on Tuesday night at Goodman Gym.  The Bulldogs won the South Atlantic Conference match by the scores of 27-25, 25-13 and 25-17 to improve to 22-1 overall and 15-0 in the SAC.  The Catawba Indians fall to 5-16 overall and 3-12 in the SAC.

Soccer (W): Baucom Scores Two to As Indians Beat Brevard in Double Overtime Soccer (W)

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College junior Allison Baucom scored two goals, including a game winner in the second overtime, to lift the Lady Indians over Brevard 3-2 in women’s soccer action Saturday evening at Frock Field.  The win advances Catawba to 10-4 on the year and 5-3 in the South Atlantic Conference while the Brevard Tornados drop to 3-10 and 1-7.
